When you decide to buy or sell a home, you are deciding to change your life. This is our story.
In 2015 my beautiful wife Amanda and I were overcome with joy when we told our son Mason that he was going to be a big brother! He couldn’t wait to meet his baby sister and he wore his “I’m a big brother” shirt proudly. We initially felt so secure and ready for this next step for our family. After the initial “cloud nine” phase ended, we realized we were not as ready as we thought.
My wife was 6 months pregnant and I was travelling more for work, my son was experiencing some medical issues that we couldn’t seem to get to the bottom of, my wife’s career was requiring longer days, our house seemed to be shrinking in front of us, and we could basically see our money flying out of our checking account faster than we could put it in. We no longer felt ready. We were stressed, we argued, we became overwhelmed and then finally we discussed and we prayed.
We knew something drastic would have to change and so we changed….everything. In order to do what we felt was needed in our life, we sold our home in Smyrna, GA and bought a home in Acworth. We were able to sell our home in a great market and purchase more home and land for a lower mortgage. Our new home is further away from the city but still close enough to all the aspects of life that we value - great school systems, a strong feeling of community, amenities, recreation, and of course who isn't looking for less traffic. The lower mortgage and profit from the old house gave me the opportunity to be a full time stay-at-home dad during some of the most precious years of my children’s life. My wife was able to concentrate on her growing career in the medical field. Our marriage was strengthened, as was our faith.
It was not easy but I thank God each day that we took the next step. When I decided it was time for me to step back into a career of my own I knew I wanted to do something where I could make an impact in the lives of others. I thought of how much our lives changed with our decision to sell our home and how wonderful it was to work with a REALTOR that we trusted and that understood what we were really looking for. She helped us take the next step in our life journey. Everyone has their own reasons for buying or selling a home – retirement, growing family, relocating, new career, or seeking a new start. Whatever your reasons are, I am here to help you take your next step.
